Status on 21 October 2026
- 2026 Longines League of Nations: finished. The Final was on Sunday 4 October 2026 and Germany are champions (CHIO Rotterdam, 4 October 2026).
- 2027 series: not started. Our research found no 2027 leg held by 21 October 2026.
The League of Nations runs within a calendar year, so unlike the World Cup it has no season straddling two years. The FEI's own League of Nations site refused our requests, and the Longines media centre returned an error, so the results below come from organisers and the jumping press.
What the rules say a Nations Cup is
The FEI Jumping Rules (Art 226.1), as reproduced in Equestrian Australia's 2026 jumping rules, call the Nations Cup the official international team competition. Under that article it may be held only at a CSIO show, needs at least three national federations taking part to be recognised, is the only competition in which official teams represent their federations, and is jumped over two rounds on the same course on the same day, judged under Table A with both rounds against the clock. Table A and the other scoring tables are explained on show jumping.
Where the Nations Cup came from
Horse Network (10 February 2019) dates team jumping Nations Cups to 1909 and says they came under FEI rules around 1930; Wikipedia agrees on both points. The first Nations Cup is disputed. Besides Horse Network's 1909, a book blog summarised in search results says the first formal Nations Cup was held at the 1912 Olympics, and another search result names Aachen in 1929 as the first jumping Nations Cup held there. We could not confirm either of the last two.
The FEI's series has carried sponsors' names over the years, which Horse Network lists:
| Years | Series name |
|---|---|
| 1987 | Gucci Trophy |
| 1997 to 2002 | Samsung Nations Cup |
| 2003 to 2008 | Samsung Super League |
| 2009 to 2010 | Meydan FEI Nations Cup |
| 2013 to 2015 | Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup |
| From 2016 | Longines titles; "Longines FEI Jumping Nations Cup" from 2019 |
The Longines League of Nations
Search summaries of World of Showjumping and others describe the League of Nations as the FEI's top-tier team jumping series, and say its first Final, in Barcelona in 2024, was won by Germany, and that Great Britain won the 2025 Final, also in Barcelona, after a jump-off. We saw both only in search summaries. The number of legs in a season and the lower-tier FEI Nations Cup divisions were not covered by our research.
The 2026 series
Ten nations were qualified for 2026, per search summaries of Horse Sport, Jumper News and Equnews from November 2025: the USA, Belgium, Ireland, Germany, France, the Netherlands, Italy, Switzerland, Great Britain as holders and Brazil, returning. The top eight were to go through to the Final. France won the opening leg in Abu Dhabi, according to a CSIO Barcelona headline.
The 2026 Final, Barcelona, 4 October (finished)
The Final was held at the Real Club de Polo in Barcelona. CHIO Rotterdam reports that Germany and Brazil both finished on 4 penalties and met in a jump-off, which Germany won; Belgium were third on 5.
| Place | Nation | Source |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Germany: Richard Vogel (Cloudio), Marcus Ehning (Coolio 42), Sophie Hinners (Iron Dames My Prins), Jorne Sprehe (Toys) | CHIO Rotterdam |
| 2 | Brazil, after the jump-off | CHIO Rotterdam |
| 3 | Belgium, 5 penalties | CHIO Rotterdam |
| 4 to 6 | USA, Italy, then Great Britain, the holders | Search summaries only; unconfirmed |
Brazil's team included Rodrigo Pessoa on Major Tom, who had a fence down in the jump-off (CHIO Rotterdam). A World of Showjumping headline credits Richard Vogel and Cloudio with sealing the win for Germany.
Team jumping elsewhere in 2026
Germany also won team jumping gold at the 2026 World Championships in Aachen on 21 August, ahead of Belgium and Great Britain (Chronicle of the Horse); Richard Vogel, Marcus Ehning and Sophie Hinners rode in both German teams. Search summaries of an equi-pages preview say the one-off May 2026 Aachen show had no Nations Cup; we could not confirm that. See the 2026 World Championships and Aachen.
